Viral Throat Infection

A simple sore throat is a common problem and may not be too bothering but any viral throat infection should be considered as a serious issue and should be given timely attention as you would be bearing with two problems at the same time, pain and virus present in the body. The invasion of any virus may happen due to any reason, be it cold and flu or mononucleosis. Whatever is the reason, such a throat infection should be diagnosed and dealt on time with suitable aid. Symptoms of this kind of infection are cough, pain in the muscles and low fever. However, the occurrence of these symptoms may vary according to severity of the infection.

Some people suffering from viral throat infection, may also experience running nose, lymph nodes appearing in the neck area and white bulging patches on the tonsils. The patient may also feel fatigued to extreme. In case the infection is related to coxsackievirus, the person may have symptoms slightly different from the regular ones. These symptoms may be constant headache, irritation on the tongue, pain in legs, arms, stomach and rashes on the chest. The person’s diet is also impacted hard and he eats much less than normal.

A viral throat infection can be diagnosed with the help of symptoms as told by the patient to the doctor. The doctor would also perform a test which would confirm the infection. Recommendations by the doctor are possible only after diagnosis of the problem. People think that antibiotics would work on such types of infections but that is not true. You may need to have pain-killers and gargle with warm salty water. While the treatment is on, take care that you don’t come in close contact with other people, to avoid spread of the infection. The best effort you can make to treat the infection is, having ample intake of fluids and rest.
